MARABASTAD

The original Maraba Village, situated just South of the present Marabastad, was ruled by Pedi Chief Maraba.

People removed from Marabastad, Newclare, Bantule, Lady Selborne and Hove's Ground and settled into the various townships around Pretoria.

Relocations
The majority of the removal of people from Marabastad took place in the following dates:
  • 1920 - Blacks removed to New Location
  • 1934 - Blacks removed to New Marabastad
  • 1945 - Blacks removed to Atteridgeville
  • 1963 - Coloureds removed to Eersterus
