Pause
Stop

 

When using your Windows Media Player, the keyboard commands are Ctrl+P to pause/play and Ctrl+S to stop. Use Ctrl+B to skip back one track and Ctrl+F to fast-forward

Edit
 

To edit your video files and home movies, Windows XP incorporated a Windows Movie Maker which you can activate by clicking on Start, All Programs, Accessories

Volume

 

To decrease and increase the volume when using Windows Media Player use the F9 and F10 keys , respectively

Compare
 

If you wish to compare two video clips, run two Media Players simultaneously. Launch one then right-click on the icon and choose Run to start the other

Smaller Files

 

To save disk space, you might wish to consider converting your MP3 files to WMA (Windows Media Audio). The files will be smaller without sacrificing quality

Improve View
 

To improve the visualisation right-click a blank space on the Task Bar, select Task Manager, select Processes tab, right-click wmplayer.exe and choose Set Priority. Set to Above Normal

Jerky Video

 

If your streamed video is jerky in Media Player, click Tools, Options, select the Performance tab and increase the buffer time

Edit Info
 

To edit information (author, title, date, etc.) when using Movie Maker, click on View, Properties

Permanent Deletion

 

When deleting a file while in Media Player you should use Delete from the Library and not from playlist

Bad Game
 

If you encounter problems to play games after upgrading to Windows XP, the problem could lie in the out-of-date drivers or wrong version of DirectX
