Background

Ratanda is situated less than 10 km south of Heidelberg, was established in 1955. A village council with seven-members was established after 1983 council in terms of the Black Local Authorities Act of 1982



Political Development

Ratanda was on of the first townships to be affected by the conflict, which began in 1984. The seven-member council collapsed during the 1984 unrest as result of pressure in the community. All political organizations within the community were wiped out by the state of emergency that was imposed by the past regime.

Tourism

Tourist could visit what was called Round 14 Park. The Park itself was build by the community as place to take out their children for picnics. To preserved this name, and get more information about it, tourist could visit around 14 entertainment complex center. The owner rename his center Round 14 because believes something had be done about redevelopment of park to served not only as a park but also as tourist attractions in future.
