WHY WAP?

The first question that comes to mind when thinking about WAP is. . . WHY?. After all, we have access to the Internet using our PCs and LapTops.

Well, there are a number of good reasons for the existence, and success, of WAP.

Consider the following:

You left your office, or home, and are on your way to the airport to catch a flight. You can use your mobile phone to get a traffic report. You will also be able to purchase your movie ticket whilst on the way to the movie theatre.

Another scenario would be to compare prices of a certain item you intend to buy, you can actually check the price of an item in a store across town whilst standing in a competition store on this side of town. Going somewhere and not sure what to wear? Get the weather report in a minute. The applications are endless! Just being able to send and receive e-mails without having to use your PC is already a worthwhile advantage.

You don't need a PC and electricity to take advantage of the services which the Internet can provide, it will all be in the palm of your hand. In a few years all cellular phones will be WAP enabled. Everyone, all over the world, will be able to access the Internet. Just think about this new, untapped, market opening its doors to every entrepreneur and company. Remember when we used to say that it wasn't necessary for companies to have Internet presence?

At SA-WAP we think that, specially in the case of companies which are already on the Net, it will be very inexpensive to have their own WAP "site" as well.
