Body of Message:
I think you are right on the swing of massive anti-ANC feelings to the left. And before the SACP congradulates itself, I see that many of these will be angry militants for whom the SACP holds no appeal in it's intellectual approach. I fear that violence will once more stalk the land as frustrated youths take to the battle fields of the townships and into the city centres. The militant right will have more in common with the youth than it does with the ANC-Alliance; as both feel the Alliance has failed them.

Mbeki is going to inherit a unstable system tottering upon collapse. Increasingly the west is more aware of the true state of SA, and is that much further away from investmest. Not that I think that western investment is that benign a thing. Developing countries must beware of dollar-colonialism.

I think the constant call for the 2/3rds%, is a reflection on the Alliance fear's of losing control. The decision of the gov. to effectively disenfranchise the overseas voter's is based not on financial reasons, but on the suppostion that these are people who will not vote for the ANC. COSATU, NUMSA, the ANC and the SACP have made sure their people are ready to vote, and since a low turnout favors the ANC, the gov. is not interested in increasing voter awareness or registration.

How far will they go is conjecture at this point, but look for unrest in the KZN, EC, and WC as the election approaches.
