The VODACOM 2002 DURBAN JULY

     It's a filly again after 50 years!!

The 6th of July 2002 was a day that will forever remain in the memory of trainer Michael de Kock and jockey Kevin Shea. They won the Vodacom 2002 Durban July on the filly IPI TOMBI.

IPI TOMBI, a three-year-old Zimbabwean bred filly, owned by a Zimbabwean syndicade, was first across the line from the 18 horse field (her fourth race in SA).

Jockey Kevin Shea had to shed 2kg in weight just a few days before the race. But it was "all worth it!".

It is quite possible that IPI TOMBI will continue her racing career in Dubai. We'll miss her on our race courses. Congratulations and our best wishes for the future!
